For any aspiring filmmaker in Australia funding presents itself as a large issue of concern. This is because it is a vital and necessary part of film production for a film to be produced and funded.
Different films require different types of budgeting (from costs such as paying employees to production costs such as location hiring and research costs.
As part of our research we focused on what avenues these filmmakers could turn to for financial support. The two major avenues we researched includes the services Screen Australia provide and also the option of crowdfunding.
Data collected from Metro Magazine, suggest that only 10% of films released into the Australian markets are actually Australian*, therefore we examine the ways in which co-production is used.
